Kit's Wilderness by David Almond

Great book. A superb Kit's Wilderness by David Almond. A short book with a very great story. Less things are happening but making high impact. Not a very big story but written so nicely that you learn lot. Writing is just great. No big metaphors. No big deep thoughts or cliche sentences. No sarcastic or funny dialogues. No witty. Dark but humorous. Simple going. Author never tried to convert you. Story have a tendency to describe everything. The best thing is simplicity. And words like 

Ayeeeee.. Eh... Eh??? Jeezzzzz.  they are so much indigenous.

“There's light and joy, but there's also darkness all around and we can be lost in it.” 

The basic type of writing. Lyrical prose. It was like a reading a song lyrics. So good and lovely.

Story of Kit's Wilderness

It is a story of two boys. Christopher Watson [kit] and Askew. They are connected in a way. The kit comes to Stoneygate after his grandma die. Here his Grandpa is also dying. Grandpa often forgets things but they are transferring all his stories to Kit. Stoneygate is a town near the old coalmines pits. Here, long time ago, once, the pit collapsed and now the people who were the worker in mines, see people and children who died under the collapse.

Tragic

Kit Watson, age thirteen and Askew age thirteen were the names of children who once died in the collapse. Now when Kit comes to Stoneygate, Askew is sure that they both were meant to die. They both are connected may be because of their names or Kit and Askew's traumatized childhoods. Kit's grandpa is dying and Askew suffered a hard father.

They both have to tell their to each other to help each other. They both help each other. But Kit is the one who found out light inside the Askew when everyone sees him as a threat.

Everybody's got the seam of goodness in them, Kit," said Grandpa. "Just a matter of whether it can be found and brought out into the light.

He rescues Askew from past and gives him hope to live for future.

Characters of Kit's Wilderness

Very nicely written. You understand about them more by their thoughts. Askew's character can be understood and Kit's is very complicated. He seems to be controlled and sweet and good but he sometimes lost control and do idiotic things.

Jax, the dog is important as it plays a role of solidity in the story.

Allie is just for a hope. A light. A joy. Silky of this time.

Lastly,

I would say that Kit's Wilderness is nicely written and easily presented. Tough to understand because of lyrical prose and all but to whole it is a must read.
